1). Morphology - The New Technology Jargon
I chanced upon this book titled "The Morphology of Modern Linguistics" at the recently concluded 2006 World Book Fair in Singapore. Intrigued, I browsed Wikipedia, my favorite people's encyclopedia, for "morphology" which is featured under linguistics, mathematics and even biology.

What about technology, especially in the current midst of trend changes, and especially in the case of information technology?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is one obvious platform that experiences the technological morphology.

2). Music Editors To End MP3 Player War
Creative Technology made its debut in the global PC community with the powerful Sound Blaster cards, and we all knew how Apple notebooks changed the way the world looked at laptops and computer accessories. It was a decade ago, and no one has heard much of them ever since.

Now, they are coming back, in full force, in what is seen as an explosive MP3 player war that started brewing the very moment Apple released its first iPod products that yet again changed the way teenagers had listened to music.

3). The Economics of On-Hold Advertising
WordSpy.com identifies "on-hold advertising" as one of the most interesting newly-coined phrases in the English lingua franca. It is about informative telephone-based pre-recorded business messages targeted at callers waiting on hold which convey updates of promotions and new products and/or services to callers.

That, utilizing every second available during business calls to advertise a particular subject, makes perfect economic sense.

4). Voice Changers: Mission (not so) Impossible
Among all the latest gadgets Ethan Hunt and his team of secret agents lavish out in their latest Mission Impossible III, I am most interested in, perhaps, one of the less flashy technologies, voice synthesization. Within a half minute reading out a short note, the omnipotent villain Owen Davian has his voice programmed into a fine chip that, when attached to Hunt's throat, modifies the latter's vocal qualities to perfectly match his.

5). Webcam Technology – Beyond Just Entertainment
The online entertainment of web tools the like of webcams, music and movie transfers and voice changer software has indeed been given an amazing boost with the development of virtually unlimited global bandwidth and high-performing computers; huge volumes of videos and audios are quickly downloaded to personal laptops, while softwares that require significant disk space to operate like the voice changers could run smoothly like never before.
