1). A Clinical Thermometer Is Essential: Part ICopyright 2006 Peter Nisbet
Every household with young children should possess a clinical thermometer. Young children, especially babies and infants, cannot properly describe their symptoms when they become ill. Many childhood diseases are associated with a raised temperature, sometimes inadequately described as a ‘fever’.
The term ‘fever’ means different things to different people and I prefer to refer to a ‘raised temperature’.
2). Advice to Parents on Childhood Measles Part I

Measles is caused by a virus of the influenza family. The initial measles symptoms are a bit like a bad cold or flu, but with a rash! The vast majority of parents do not know what measles really is, other than being a childhood illness. They know it has a rash and is infectious, but that’s about it. They have probably never seen it and don’t know anyone who has had it.
3). VoIP Security

VoIP security has been called in question recently, though there is little evidence to indicate that VoIP security is any less than conventional telephony systems.
VoIP voice data is transmitted via a packet-switched data network using IP. VoIP systems can carry a significant higher number of calls, and very much faster,.
4). How Vaccines Work

When an organism gets into your body and causes an infection, your body gathers its defences and fights against them. This is the basic principle of how vaccines work.
Certain cells in your blood make what are called ‘antibodies’, molecules which are designed to attack specific germs and viruses. These attach to the invaders in your bloodstream and prevent them from invading other cells.
5). Music Video Codecs

The word ‘codec’ is short for Coder/DECoder or Compressor/DECompressor. It is a technology used basically to render data suitable for transmission using a set of protocols which must also be used for its reception. MP3 is an example of a common codec. They can be applied in hardware, software or in a combination of both.
6). Advice to Parents on Childhood Measles - Part II

In Part 1 I explained how a lack of knowledge about measles symptoms and resistance to MMR has resulted in some parents starting up ‘measles parties’ to ensure that their children caught measles early and so gain immunity that way. This is mistaken in my view and many people are unaware that measles is still a major killer.
7). What Is VoIP?

Many have heard of the VoIP phone service, but are unsure what the term VoIP stand for. VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. “Great, but what does that mean and how does it affect me?” I can hear you say. I though the same when I first heard the term.
In simple terms what the VoIP service does is to convert an analogue audio signal into a digital audio signal that can be transferred over the internet.
8). Psoriasis - Is There A Cause And A Cure? Part 1.
Psoriasis is an usightly condition. Peter Nisbet, a sufferer for almost 30 years, details his experience in trying to find a cure, and details the treatments he has tried. In part 1 he outlines the causes of the condition.
9). Clinical Thermometers and Children's Health - Part II

Body temperature is usually measured by indirectly measuring the temperature of the blood. Its accuracy is dependent on both the equipment used and the area of the body used for the measurement. Several factors can affect the accuracy, among them recent exercise, how wrapped up (or ‘bundled’) a young child has been and even the environmental temperature.
10). Cold Foiling

The cold foiling process, as the name implies, involves foil blocking without the use of heat. Traditional hot stamping foils require heat and pressure to transfer the foil from the carrier film to the substrate being printed, whereas cold foiling does not.
A hot foil generally consists of a polyester carrier, or, more.
11). A Mother's Instincts.

Ignore a mother's instincts about her child's health at your peril!
Whether you are a health professional or a parent with an unwell child, you must always remember that a mother knows far better than any doctor or physician whether her child is seriously ill or not. No member of the medical profession should ever ignore a mother's instincts in these matters, and neither should the mother.
12). Overweight Children

The nutritional requirements of a child have to be considered carefully. Growing children require a high amount of energy intake to help them to grow, but, just as with adults, if energy intake exceeds energy usage, the child will put on weight.
Naturally, children should, and must, gain weight through the natural process of growth, but many children go beyond that and put on excess fatty tissue; i.
