2). Chandrayan I
It was on July 20, 1969 that "Eagle", the lunar module landed on the moon and American Astronaut Neil Armstrong took "that one small step" paving way for "a giant leap for mankind" .

In 2007-08, India will launch Chandrayan I, which will be closely followed by China's CHANGE-I. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is spear-heading all the activities in the field.

3). INSAT-4A
Indian space scientists received signals of INSAT-4A, which was launched by Ariane-5 rocket from Kourou in French Guyana. The satellite signals have been acquired by Master Control Facility at Hassan in Karnataka.

It will be the first satellite to be launched in INSAT-4 series. It carries 12 high power Ku-band transponders to meet the requirement of direct-to-home (DTH) television services apart from 12C-band transponders to augment the INSAT capacity for communication and DTH services.

4). Domestic Energy Conservation Measures
Lighting

Don't leave lights on when no one is in the room. If you are going to be out of the room for more than five minutes, turn off the light.

If you know of a light that everyone fgov.inets to turn off, make a sticker or a sign to hang next to the switch that says "Lights Out!" or "Don't Fgov.inet!"

Where possible, use compact fluorescent light bulbs.

5). Sodium Vapour Lamp
Sodium Vapour Lamp consists of a discharge tube made from a heat resistant glass, containing a small amount of metallic sodium, neon gas and two electrodes, Neon gas is added to start the discharge and to develop enough heat to vaporize the sodium. Because of law pressure inside the tube, a sufficiently long tube required to obtain more light. To reduce the overall dimension of the lamp, this tube is generally bent into U-shape.

6). Nanotechnology
As the horizons of technology expand, the real world is shrinking into a Global Village; Nanotechnology is the new area of interest in technology.
Nanotechnology is an umbrella term that covers many areas of research dealing with objects that are measured in nanometers or billionth of meter. It is a hybrid science combining engineering and chemistry.

7). Broadband Technology : Broadening the Horizons of Communication
Broadband is a type of data transmission in which a single medium (wire) can carry several channels at once. Cable TV, for example, uses broadband transmission. In more technical terms, broadband refers to transmission speed of 1.54 million per second or more using a single medium, such as wire, that has two or more channels carrying information at once.
