1). Discrimination in Employment — Relevant Federal Laws
Discrimination in employment is prohibited by a series of federal laws. These laws are the following:
* Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (commonly referred to as “Title VII”);
* Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA);
* The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended (ADEA);
* The Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA);
* The Civil Rights Act of 1991 (often referred to as “CRA of 1991”); and
* Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

2). Firing Someone – Does it have to be painful, for them and you?

The need to write this article came about through the recent experience of two of my friends. Both had been fired. One for supposed poor performance (although she had never been counselled and at the time was in fact on sick leave) and one because the start up facility she was employed by, suddenly closed down.
